Kinds of Man Lifts
Designed specially to vertically hoist personnel to higher areas, scissor lifts are common in the construction business to help move or lift employees form one location to another. Man lifts are power-driven and provide platforms or steps and special handholds to provide safe transport. The kind of construction work being carried out will decide precisely which type of man lift would be used in a project.
Electrically Insulated Man Lifts
According to Man and Material Lift Engineering, the man lift most preferred for working in close proximity to electrocution hazards are electrically insulated man lifts. The electrically insulated man lifts offer protection to workers against accidental electrocution. These type of equipment follow the American National Standards Institute A92.2 Category C, 46kV Rated. These electrically insulated man lifts offer fiberglass insulated booms, fiber optic control cables and are operated on nonconductive hydraulic hoses that serve to reduce ground fault.
Scissor Lifts
The scissor lift is a unique machinery capable of transporting workers vertically to hard-to-reach places. The scissor lift derived its name because of the scissor type of design of the folding supports that could lower and raise the platform. To be able to raise the lift, every one of the folding supports is opened so as to extend the platform to higher heights.
Scissor lifts can be either manually or hydraulically lifted. Hydraulic systems allow the scissor lifts to descend with just a release of hydraulic pressure, rather than depending on power. Since the possibility of mechanical malfunctions preventing the platform from descending to the ground abruptly is eliminated, at the end of the day, hydraulic systems make safer scissor lifts.
Capacity
Man lifts are designed in a huge range of weight capacities. Some man lifts have the capability to only hold many people while others have the ability to hold one person. Scissor lifts and platform lifts are more conducive for transporting many people, since boom lifts have less space located in their bucket.
