The forklift is an essential piece of machine in most companies which operate warehouses, distribution centers, industrial and storage handling facilities. This wonder machine, the forklift is made of many components, like the essential carriage, the engine, the power source and the wheels. Lift trucks generally have various kinds of attachments also. The following are some of the most essential components of a lift truck.
Engine of the Lift Truck - At the rear of the machinery, the lift truck has its power source. The various kinds of engine on the forklift will need varying power sources. Like for instance, a forklift with an internal combustion engine can have any of the following as its source of power: diesel, gasoline, LP gas or CNG gas. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Frame of The Truck - the base of the lift truck and the most important of all the forklift components is the truck frame. This forms the core of the machine. All other components of a lift truck are connected to the base, like the overhead guard, counterweight, axles, mast and wheels. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks can also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Lift Truck Parts - While lifting heavy cargo, the counterweight allows the machinery to be balanced. This particular component is cast iron and comes connected to the rear of the forklift. The counterbalance balances the truck frame in order to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric forklift provides balance and may function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - The cab is also referred to as the operator compartment. Forklifts will sometimes have closed cabs whilst others will be open to the air. There are really many components situated within the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such essential parts like the seats, pedals, switches, levers, steering wheel and operator controls. The dashboard has operator readouts.
