Forklift Classifications
The following classes of forklift describe the use and fuel option of every forklift. Certification is needed for every class of forklift that the operator will be using.
Class 1 - Electric Motor Rider Trucks
These forklifts come with either cushion or pneumatic tires. Pneumatic tires are suggested during dry conditions for outdoor use. The cushion tired models are designed for indoor, smooth surfaces. These are electrically powered vehicles that use industrial batteries, which make them desirable inside closed environments where the quality of air is a problem. Hoist functions and travel are controlled by transistor motor controllers. These are versatile units usually used everywhere from storage facility to the loading dock.
Class 2 - Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Trucks
For the kind of location where narrow aisles should be negotiated, this specific type of forklift is suitable. They are effective at making the most of storage space. Their unique design makes them perfect where speed is required and for small spaces.
Class 3 - Electric Motor Hand or Hand-Rider Trucks
These battery-powered, hand-controlled models are designed for the operator to stand in front of the truck and operate the lift using a steering tiller. The tiller has controls mounted on top and is moved laterally in order to maneuver the vehicle. The units that have smaller capacity utilize industrial batteries.
