How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when using a scissor lift, because the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety gives peace of mind while attempting to carry out tasks that would have otherwise required utilizing the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this specific machinery make it the right alternative for carrying jobs from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the machine. These batteries would need to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any particular equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the machinery near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated area. Then, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button found near the charger or the control box, in the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Usually, units that are older would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be sure to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger could potentially occur.
