Skyjack Safety
A scissor lift is a specialized type of industrial equipment that is utilized for "positioning personnel, their equipment and their tools," according to Skyjack. Anybody who is preparing to use this particular kind of machine needs to familiarize themselves with the suggested operational and safety measures suggested by the manufacturer to be able to stay safe prior to trying to use this machine. It can be devastating to any bystanders and the operator themselves leading to severe injuries if the safety measures are not followed.
Area
In the best case scenario, the scissor lift would be operated on completely level ground. Before driving a scissor lift over a particular terrain, the area has to be inspected and cleared of any debris. In order to lower the possibility of the scissor lift tipping over and probably causing the operator to fall from his seat. It is recommended to avoid holes or steep grades while operating. Bystanders must also remain aware and stay clear of the operating scissor lift in order to ensure they do not get run over.
Inspection
Prior to attempting to use a scissor lift, the user must thoroughly inspect all the important components of the equipment. The operator could see if all the components are working correctly before the task is initiated, a functional test is done while the lift is retracted. It is better to complete a daily inspection on this equipment prior to the shift starting and several places even want an inspection to happen at the end of the shift too. Different companies have various rules in place to maintain safety.
Inspecting the tires should be part of the inspection. These components obviously add to the scissor lift's movability and also provide the equipment with a solid foundation. A faulty or worn tire could blow and throw the operator from their place on top of scissor lift.
